Luminize is seeking an experienced Controller with a heavy background in tracking inventory in a
fast-paced environment to join our team and drive excellence in our financial operations. This role is pivotal in maintaining our CoGS, tracking fast-moving inventory, financial health, and ensuring compliance with GAAP accounting principles. As an accounting manager, you will take on advanced inventory, AR, and AP accounting responsibilities and play a key role in process improvements and cross-functional initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to navigate and create new processes from scratch.

Responsibilities Include:
Advanced Financial Management:
  • Inventory Accounting: Manages and supports accurate inventory tracking for financial purposes, perform inventory reconciliation in the warehouse, inbound and outbound, and with Amazon files, handle discrepancies with vendors, ensure accurate CoGS.
  • Bill.com Operations: Actively manages bill.com platform, utilizing its features to streamline the accounts payable process.
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable: Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), ensuring timely and accurate payment of bills, invoices, and adherence to payment terms. Includes tying deposits and payments to appropriate AP/AR invoices.
  • General Ledger Oversight: Maintain, review, and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and alignment with GAAP.
  • Month-End & Year-End Close: Lead and execute month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, providing actionable insights and supporting leadership with strategic financial decision-making.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in developing budgets and forecasts, analyzing variances, and providing recommendations for corrective actions.
Process Improvement & Leadership:
  • System Optimization: Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency in accounting processes, leading implementation efforts for new tools and systems.
  • Policy Development: Collaborate on the creation and refinement of accounting policies and procedures to enhance internal controls and compliance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with other departments, including operations, sales, and executive leadership, to support financial strategies and organizational goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting
  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in financial software such as QuickBooks, Bill.com, and Excel/Google Sheets; familiarity with e-commerce tools is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Proven ability to lead process improvements and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
