Company: Coastal Trading Ventures
Job Title: Senior On-Site Inventory Controller (WMS & Lifecycle Specialist)
Location: Dallas Fort Worth On-Site (Warehouse Floor - 100%)
Experience: 7+ Years (Hands-on)
Role Overview We are looking for an operational "Hunter." We have a complex inventory environment involving raw materials, kitting, and high-volume FBA outbound. We are currently transitioning from a custom WMS to a new tier-1 system, and we need an owner to ensure our physical reality matches our data. Your mission is to mitigate "spillage" by auditing the lifecycle of every unit from purchase order to the moment it hits the dock to the moment it leaves on a truck.
Key Responsibilities (The "Must-Haves")
- The "Gatekeeper" Audit: Enforce a strict 3-way match (PO vs. Packing Slip vs. Physical Count) at the dock. You are the final authority on what we pay for.
- Production & Kitting Control: Critical. Manage the "grey area" of inventory (Work In Progress). Track units pulled for a build, ensure they are consumed correctly in the system, and reconcile the leftover raw materials immediately.
- WMS Transition Support: Act as the "Data Cleaner" for our upcoming WMS migration. You will identify bad data patterns in our current custom system and ensure we migrate clean, accurate counts to the new software. Must have experience with creating processes in an Excel or Google Sheets environment.
- Root Cause "Forensics": Do not just adjust the count. Find out why the count was wrong. Was it a receiver error? A theft? A scanning glitch? Fix the process so it doesn't happen again.
- High-Stakes Cycle Counting: Execute daily cycle counts and audits in favor of continuous, weekly accuracy to maintain 99.9% inventory accuracy.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ Years in Inventory Control: Must be in a facility that does Assembly/Kitting, not just pick-and-pack. We receive FTL and LTL with mixed pallets and almost identical products.
- WMS Adaptability: Experience working with Warehouse Management Systems including tier 1 systems such as Netsuite, SAP and systems built on excel/sheets and custom/proprietary legacy systems. You must be comfortable navigating imperfect software while we upgrade.
- "Floor First" Mentality: This is not a clipboard manager role. This is a role for someone who will physically inspect pallets, climb ladders, and open boxes to verify counts.
- Excel/Google Sheets Proficiency: Ability to export raw data from our custom WMS and use VLOOKUPs/Pivots to find the discrepancies the system is missing.
Soft Skills
- Conflict Resolution: Ability to tell a Warehouse Manager or Receiver, "No, this is wrong, do it again," with professional firmness.
- Process Architect: You don't just follow SOPs; you spot where they are broken and rewrite them.
- Uncompromising Integrity: A commitment to accuracy that does not yield to operational speed or pressure.
- Clear Communication: The ability to explain complex inventory discrepancies to both executive leadership and floor staff.
- Problem-Solving Autonomy: The ability to operate with minimal supervision, identifying and fixing problems before they are reported by others.
